Stafford is blessed with its own Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes in multiple locations. Some are based at the Active Arts martial arts centre just north of central Stafford, while others are based very centrally on Newport Road, in The Sports Shed near Stafford’s Tesco Extra. Classes at the Active Arts centre take place on Mondays courtesy of Dave Briggs who runs his own school, and on Fridays courtesy of Chris Paines who runs the Stafford branch of the Fighting Fit school with the help of assistant coach Morgan Eardley. Classes at The Sports Shed take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays courtesy of Martin Jones. There’s really no need to look further afield!
Dave Briggs Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Dave Briggs runs one of Active Arts’ two sets of BJJ classes. Dave’s classes take place on Mondays, 7:00pm-8:30pm and are suitable for all skill levels. Chris Paines – Fighting Fit
There’s a popular dedicated martial arts centre based in Stone by the name of Fighting Fit, and the guys behind this centre run a set of classes in Stafford at the Active Arts centre. Their BJJ classes are run by Chris Paines with the help of his assistant coach Morgan Eardley, every Friday 6pm-7:30pm, suitable for all skill levels, beginners especially welcome because there is a separate dedicated advanced class that follows, 7:30pm-9pm. Martin Jones – The Sports Shed
Martin Jones teaches Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at The Sports Shed on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The Sports Shed is located round the back / to the side of Stafford’s Tesco Extra on Newport Road – just go through the car back, round to the back of the building and you’ll find The Sports Shed, a Grade II listed old railway building, by the railway.
